I am very excited about the wonderful news I have to share with you this month! First of all, Morgan, in Mrs. Wigand's 1st grade class, completed Course 1 in coding from Code.org. This is a 20 hour course that our PreK- 2nd graders have been working on in the computer lab as well as at home. Our 3rd-5th graders have been working on Course 2 from Code.org which is a more advanced 20 hour coding course. Our wonderful PTF has approved supplemental funding to procure new movement based stools for the technology lab. The Hokki stools come in a variety of fun colors, and I have chosen light blue and lime green to compliment the lab's environment (I know many of you are shocked that I did not choose the hot pink option!). I look forward to the arrival of these wonderful stools! The stools currently in the lab will be put to good use in the Art room! The PTF has also purchased 4 Ozobot robots to begin our robotics program. I will have a total of 8 Ozobots and cannot wait to begin robotics this year with the fifth grade! Thank You so much PTF! We love you!
The students have participated in the Hour of Code and are continuing with lessons on code.org. I have been amazed at their progress, ability to problem solve, and collaboration. Ask them to show you their progress.
